#SocialMediaCapital
On June 30, the Philippines joins the world, for the very first time, in marking Social Media Day, with a big event planned right at the heart of Makati City.

Filipino Twitterati, bloggers, advocates, practitioners from media, business, government are expected to grace that day's celebration of creativity, community and conversation that has pushed individuals, companies and organizations, and the nation many steps forward and ahead of the rest of the world.

The event is being organized by the community of netizens behind TweetUp Manila and the first Twestival Manila, and whose work and passions have brought them together both online and offline.

There is much reason to celebrate social media in the Philippines: its creation of new careers and new opportunities, the awesome efforts to use new tools for helping during and after disasters such as Ondoy and Sendong, the new space for media, politics and expression, citizen journalism and cutting-edge, content-rich multimedia practice, and industry going digital to reach and affect more people whether thru marketing, PR or advertising.

Bookmark launches A Sea of Stories collection for WWF-Philippines’

Coral Triangle Project

The Bookmark Inc., in partnership with WWF-Philippines recently launched five books from A Sea of Stories: Tales from Sulu Collection written by Carla M. Pacis with each book containing a story appreciating the environment.

Carla M. Pacis is an author and professor at De La Salle University-Manila where she teaches art, literature, and creative writing. She also earned awards from PBBY-Salanga Writer’s Prize (1998) and Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Award (1995.)

The five stories were written for the WWF-Philippines’ Coral Triangle Project which aimed to make children aware of the beauty of their surroundings and its fragility and to make adults in the area responsive to the preservation of their environment especially those living in the areas within the WWF-Philippines project.

The Jin and the Turtle illustrated by Jeanne P. Tan is about the sad plight of the sea turtles of the Sulu Sea and the effort to save them. While the Dragon Boat illustrated by Edrick Raymond T. Daniel tells about the boat making skills of the Tausugs and the virtue of patience.

Mapun illustrated by Jose T. Gamboa and Herbert Miguel I. Consunji tells about the declining sea resources in the Sulu Sea area and the preservation of sea turtles which in some instances were credited with saving lives of some fishermen. Grandmother’s Gift illustrated by Seth Clarece T. Estacio tells about the hard life of families in the area and their mat-making industry. It tells, too, of grandmother’s sacrifice to part with her treasured mat for the education of her granddaughter.

Manta Ray Journey illustrated by Lloyd F. Niguidula is a folktale on how the Badjao tribe came to live in the different islands of the Sulu Sea. It is also about depleting marine resources, giant manta rays, and how the Badjaos as boat people, live.

The publisher and the WWF-Philippines have joined to produce these books to contribute to the dearth of reading materials which focus on environmental preservation as well as show the culture of the Sulu Sea area. By reading these books or acquiring them for others to read, it is hoped that we will all spread the message to preserve our environment and encourage children to read more books.

The original illustrations were exhibited and were up for sale during the launch. The author and artists also took the time to sign some books.

The book launch showed that books are another way for children to learn more about their environment and through the five stories from A Sea of Stories: Tales from Sulu parents can educate their children on how to be good stewards of the environment.

Surviving Tubercle Bacilli and Hassles

Shit. This life, riding high then shot down. But thanks God, I am indeed a survivor.
Tubercle Bacilli, how sweet. Thanks for almost vanishing my dreams and career. Ha! Think you can win eh? (Losers)

Updates. What the hell I'm going to spurt in this note? My Facebook? Farmville? Like this? That?
huh, the banality of short sighted happiness. Online and all that bits and bytes.

Good thing the brotherhood of Wacky Urban Gang never fails. We still catching up every once in a while. And that's priceless! Mark Anthony and Benjie, you can have the best of both worlds with these two guys. Cheers to WUG's 10th Anniversary 2008-2010 celebration!

Girls! Girls! Girls! I'm not as hot as Elvis pelvis, as gentle crooner Sinatra, or a vampire, a sorcerer, the shit *bleep* brothers (ungas braders, that's a clue! hehe!)

I have met wonderful girls, but my social anxiety disorder is killing me, so I cannot able to boost my ego to woo anyone of them!

Haist. The life of getting up and down. Best bet. We survived this year 2009. So give something to our Lord Jesus Christ, and please don;t call him with just BRO!!!!

Kaya tayo minamalas dahil BRO lang ang tawag natin sa kanya! Hayup ka Santino!

Bloggers treated to Breakfast feast By: Michael C. Barcas

Bloggers treated to Breakfast feast By: Michael C. Barcas

BLOGGERS were treated to a beautiful morning of hearty breakfast and wellness tips.

Bloggers and other young professionals run a punishing daily schedule and most often skip breakfasts to be able to cope with their toxic schedules without realizing that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and they need this to be alert and energetic the whole day.

Now, even busy people like our favorite bloggers may start their days quick and right with the Jollibee Breakfast Joys which are available in variety of delicious and filling choices that are sure to provide everyone with the energy they need for a busy day ahead.

This is good news for late risers in the morning and helping working parents to save time by dine-in, take-out or drive thru at Jollibee serving fresh and hot meals until 11:00am in the morning.

Breakfast Joys meals are available from rice meals to pancakes. Traditional Pinoy breakfasts come in variants of Longganisa, Crispy Bangus, Chicken Tocino, Beef Tapa, Hotdog, Corned Beef and Breakfast steak served with garlic rice, fried egg and your choice of coffee, hot chocolate or any regular cold drink.

For those who prefer Western breakfast, Jollibee also has their 2-piece Pancakes with butter and maple syrup or the best seller and signature Pancake Sandwich, a delightful treat of savory sausage patty and scrambled egg in between two pancakes.

Yesterday morning’s “Breakfast Feast for Bloggers” was made livelier with Karl Go’s instructions on the proper art of Tai Chi, for proper movement and breathing. The Slimmer’ World Beauties also gamely taught the basics of yoga.

AFTER GRADUATION (Taken From The Web, I Nearly Choked And Give Up)

AFTER GRADUATION

April 2, 2001

I thought that graduation was the saddest time of my life because I had to say goodbye to so many friendships and to my routine life. I wrote this after the Thanksgiving holidays when I got to see everyone who left for college for the first time in months.

It was five months ago we took our separate paths
Fighting hard to make time last
We had fun while we could and shed some tears
Held on to memories as we confessed our fears

Few were excited, some were scared
Most of us were sad and not at all prepared
We had to say goodbye to so many faces
As we packed our bags for brand new places

At first it was hard because everything was new
Then things got easier as more friendships grew
Time's gone by so fast and we've come so far
But we still remember who our real friends are

Once a month phone calls keep us in touch
Letters and phone calls are forced to be enough
Things aren't the way they used to be
Our lives have changed and so have we

They said, "Your friends in high school will fade away"
You'll make friends in college and unintentionally stray
Your personality will change and your morals will lower
Then before you know it, old friendships will be over

Homecoming and Thanksgiving came then went
Stories were told and time was spent
We've all changed and witnessed different things
But when we're together, nothing's changed it seems

Distance has only made us realize we're strong
Though deep down we've known it all along
So wherever you go, whatever you do
Know you'll always have a friend who stands beside you

Notes from your Graduation

Notes from your Graduation

And now the time has come to reap the awards of your hardships, struggles, emotionally and physically, to get there in the stage, all smiles.

Finishing primary, secondary and higher education is one of the greatest moments in life.

But how are the other youth who haven’t made it there. Is there hope?
Are their families willing to comfort? Or ends in frustration?

*Lynda, is a teacher from a well-known university. He has a son who’s taking up Engineering. Her son was a good academic achiever, an athlete and responsible to his parents and siblings. He was about to march on his graduation day when something unexpected happened. Her son died in a fatal car crash. All Lynda’s dream and wonderful aspirations for his son were abruptly destroyed. She was so depressed.

Before that fateful moment in the life of Lynda, her son was so ecstatic that he was about to finish college. He was among the early bird who paid his fees and took his graduation toga. Lynda said “I can still remember my son *Jerry telling me what he wanted to do with our house, he will make it big enough for her younger brothers and sisters, provide schooling for them, change his father’s old jeepney into a passenger utility van, and caring for me dearly all the time, and then all of these are now memories of happy yesterdays.”

The school where she was working and her son studying paid a tribute to
Jerry when the supposed to be a happy gathering of families and graduates. It was unforgettable. The college administration gave the toga, posthumous plaque and the diploma to Lynda and her husband and they fought back tears amidst guest and audiences crying, with a big screen showing pictures of Jerry’s stay at school and videos.

“The grief, the loss is something beyond words and actions, It is hard to swallow but then again, me and my husband Ben are very proud of you anak.” Lynda said in her brief speech. It received thunderous applauds and five minutes of standing ovation.

After that, they went to celebrate at Jerry’s final resting place. It was a wonderful reunion as close family friends and relatives joined in to ease the pain of Jerry’s parents.
That graduation day could be their sorrowful, but then again they found light after all, “Jerry’s here to stay.” Said Ben “For we still have sons and daughters, we will be more inspired and pursue to give them a good future for what Jerry could have done.”

At every end of what we thought is a fruitful journey, we must thank the people who supported us along the way and more importantly, God above. Our life has different avenues, each path is unknown but once we travel over there, everything is not difficult, only wonderful.

"It's Time To Step Down And Leave..."

God, here I go again. Crossed behind my past, deeds and confusion. I expecting the worst from all of these.

I have been living in the dark corner for far as I know, for disturbed by circumstances hard to take.

Forgive me, for all the missteps that I have done. thus, I am willing to face what will happen next...

It's very hard, humiliating, but I know, and you know how much I repent so much for this for along time.

May I have some peace, I seek refuge. Let them be enlightened. I'd hope that there's a sunrise after all.

Maybe, I really need to get up at the back of the bus, and just left...

Plans, Botched or Realized

God, our lives are now half eaten by the calendar and minding our lives amidst this global crisis made us glum.
But us Filipinos are the most flexible people in the planet. We can still laugh, party even our "pulutan" are chicharon or Boy Bawang and the priceless grin we have in our face.
July, particularly are full of hectics and god damned thesis writing, axe murderer exams to maximize our potentials. (?)
I have plans of getting more relaxation despite my billfold is stinking because it only had are
family photos and yellowed business cards. (Amulets too!)
Our plan, The Wacky Urban Gang (Philmar C.S is currently in the North.) is to attend a VIP party of a popular men's magazine but we shot down it because of economic reasons. Mark Anthony E. Dejaresco and I decided to concentrate for our double natal day celebration on the 19th of the month of Juky 2k8.
I have plans of joining a collegiate writing contest of the country's oldest basketball association and I needed to think about thrice because of expectations of the fact that I am a son of the respected sports editor and writer. (His shoes are too big for me.)
And if everything goes according to the plan, I have to resort again into seclusion, satisfied and happy as a clam stucked, barnacle solitude.

Latest...

Another journey.
Much alone in an expedition needed to finish.
Time is short.
But I must keep running.
Look back.
It's still there.
You're still not far away.
I should go.
Whether it is your face or my pride,
I conquer.
Tilting against the storms.
Or shouting for the scream of thunder.
Please.
It's your pain.
Not getting over it.
For tomorrow's sorrow,
or today's contention.

Pain Stripper Specials: On The Sixteenth Month....

Oh, it's October again and I can sense some painful national holidays. First the November 1. It will be another reflections of yesterday gone far. Secondly the yuletide. Another ordinary season not just for me but also for my family. The cheers will be something bland to hear in your eardrums. It's still damn cold out there. You can see I'm still grieving for something lost. Walking on a cold rain, Or staring pointless at a gloomy afternoon when the streets seems in a stupor.

The pain is still there. How can I let it go quickly is impossible. But thanks anyway to some old friends especially the old friends. The brotherhood of Wacky Urban Gang.

Mom.

Mom is okay. She's strong to face mere difficulties a widow and a mother experienced in their trying times when their better half walk out of the building. Admitting I'm a "mama's boy", I'm happy to be under her wings. At least I belong to the last dying breed, not the usual "fifteen years old palang sira na ang buhay, chain smoker, heavy drinker, tambay ng bahay, basagulero ng bayan!". Thanks a lot mommy, we promise not to leave you at any cost, We will stay put and always together..

January 14, 2008

If ever the good friends out there find me morose, maybe it is the reason to keep sane in this manic world only being blessed to have a meaningful life . I won't try to heat it up. I'm not a caveman to just bonk you in the head.
Moreover it's been three years auld acquaintances when you thought something hasn't changed. Am not. But the outlook in life. There are certain things to see in gray. There are things forbidden but not forgotten. Anyway thank you, It was a good show. Curtains down. No applause. No flowers. No ovation. No Shriek.
Please.

When This Minutes in Our Youth We Loved To Listen To Records

When I'm tired from all the mundane pressures, such as college life, household glitch or simply vaguely discontented, I listen to records. My fave OPM band, (Or rather a true blue fanatic) The Eraserheads. A quartet composed of Ely Buendia, (Pupil, The Mongols.) Raimund Marasigan, (sandwich,), Buddy Zabala, (cambio,) and Marcus Adoro (surfernando,) They are the real heroes of alternative and college rock bands. But sad to say the are now virtually disbanded and had a faint signs of reunion. Still I support them even though they have their own bands now. Thanks to http://clonedhanex11.imeem.com/ , I chanced upon endless googling to hear some eheads track online. He uploaded some great tunes from the band. Myspace' has also have http://www.myspace.com/eheads with tracks of only the greatest hits. I feel so glad and a little youthful when I listen to it.

Frank Sinatra- I earn some respect back in elementary and highschool days when I vainly prophesying that Sinatra is as classic and music royalty aside from Elvis Presley whose uniqueness makes him undoubtedly the King of rock and roll. I caught Sinatra's appeal as some jazzy, relaxed singing style that makes him the Chairman of the Board. Plus his voice is so clear that every words that coming from his baritone vocal chords is filled with clarity of emotional conviction. Check him out at http://www.myspace.com/franksinatraswings for a taste of the "Old Blue Eyes".

You can also visit http://www.michaelcardinalbarcas.imeem.com/
Maybe I would go to the last fortress, looking for any faint signs of incoming lights. Together I will seek and to pursue looking at the broken pieces of dreams left behind. Take a trip, grind up and down out with bruised knee, It is really a damn turbulent cruise standing up, and there you are, cursing and despair.........
No other way but forward, the past is a rear view mirror, no matter how many times you tried to get away from it. One can never learn from history of bygone which is a simple way of sorting yourself for tomorrow.Make astray of the good things that died. Painful to the full, It's a fool to hide it and let it bleed. Some say it's the hardest part, But do they comprehend?...Longing for attention. Nay! A good pat for the panting one looks encouraging but it is sheer and subtle hypocrisy. Should let it go is impossible. irreparable.

"If there is a will, There's one way"....

On the March To.....

We're currently marching in on the First death anniversary of our daddy.
June 22, will mark that sealed fate of afterlife. We couldn't believe it. His memories left are still as fresh from yesterday. Everybody is in the mourning. I hope we can still hold on.
By God's grace it is really painful. His book of life has turned into the last leaf but we absorbed it very much better. Who can empathize wit the pain? There is no sense in the saying "Time heals all wounds". It's baseless. The pain will cut deeper as years pass by.
But the chance of appreciating the people who condoled and offered their deepest sympathy is something we won't forget. Your prayers is what we need who, left behind.

Hello!! Blogosphere!! =)-> Introducing.........

Oh, It's wonderful that I have penetrated the Blogspot.com.

Its been a quite a while seen I started blogging from my other sites. Namely as immensely popular like blogspot.com,/or rather Google's Blogger.com My Friendster at http://friendster.com/mcbdos and Myspace.com of Media mogul Rupert Murdoch, at http://myspace.com/mcbdos and our band http://myspace.com/thefingerslam.
Since I'm neophyte here at blogspot, I'm excited to roll the ball with oldies of blogspot.com. Soon I'm looking forward for some flooding of e-mails, rants rave or simply a poetry of disgust, I will understand and bear it away.
Cheers!!! Refresh. Reboot. and Play!!!!
